As a composer, I am a big fan of utilising silence. What better medium, then, than the preces and responses?
This setting is ostensibly in C major, but makes use of the Lydian and Mixolydian modes to give a wonderfully rich texture. Ideas are introduced and developed throughout, until they are brought together in the Amens with a great feeling of triumph.
I offer up this lusciously rich setting of the responses.
